Project Description. Metromile is a technology startup company that offers pay-per-mile car insurance. They wanted to expand and move into a larger space to hold all their employees comfortably and have room for growth.

Objective. Starting with just the core and shell of an existing second level space, the objective was to space plan with required programing and design a new workspace for the Metromile company. I was inspired by their loud work culture and playful branding.

After touring the existing space, it was evident that the company's culture was vibrant and exciting. I wanted to translate this through the projects materials, with paint, fabric and graphics.

planning out where the flooring finishes would apply/transition

The flooring finishes correlated to the paint and materials I originally selected. Carrying on this theme of vibrant, bold colors and textures. Also with a big focus on resiliency in the flooring finishes as these employees were always walking around and re arranging their furniture.

Branding was a huge design element of this new space. The client wanted to have many moments throughout the space to promote the company, their values, and icons that represented what they were about. Above you can see the 9 branding proposals I came up with, and below you can see how they were mapped throughout the space.

I was unable to get any final photography of the space, however below you can see progress imagery that I had taken from the start of construction to nearing the final days of completion. This was the first project that I work on the construction administration phase for. I attended weekly construction meetings to talk with the contractor and sub-contractors about progress and walk the site to address questions or concerns.
